Melissa McGrath joined our staff officially in 2010, however has been a relieving teacher for us since 2007.  In 2011 we welcome Melissa as our Director.  Melissa completed her Kindergarten Teaching and Primary School Teaching training in 1993, and since has worked in a range of early childhood services – including sessional kindergarten, childcare and as a primary school teacher.  Melissa has 2 children, both of whom attended Hurstbridge Preschool.  Melissa advocates play based programming and offers a calm and gentle nature to our preschool. OUR PHILOSOPHY

Hurstbridge Pre-school prides itself on being a part of a strong and unique community.

We provide an excellent educational program that goes beyond numeracy and literacy and assists children with the development of life skills such as resilience, problem solving, individual thinking, cooperation and inquiry. PROGRAMS

PLAY is the most important learning tool in early childhood (0 - 8 years) education.  Our 3 and 4 year old kinder programs facilitate and promote intensive, individual learning through play - the children role play, create, improvise, explore, solve problems, etc. Read more...

HISTORY

Hurstbridge Preschool was opened in 1975. The building itself was a gift from the Labor Government when Gough Whitlam was Prime Minister. At this time Preschool education was acknowledged as an important part of the early years of learning. The money raised by the local community was used for buying equipment. Read more.
